Brick Mansions

Finally, David Belle is getting some Hollywood recognition. Arguably the founder of Parkour (not free running) and someone I would’ve expected to see in a Paul Walker blockbuster vehicle a long time ago. The movie looks kind of shit, and I suspect Luc Besson wrote it just so that he could put David Belle in a Parkour-driven film. I’ll watch it! Who’s with me?

Jump London

Anyone who digs Parkour, or its bastard cousin Free Running, really owes it to himself to watch the documentary Jump London, viewable on YouTube.

I’m not very fond of Sébastien Foucan. Or rather, I’m not fond of his claim to have invented Parkour, nor him relabelling it as Free Running. Free running has added a lot of frilly acrobatics that I don’t care much for, and I think David Belle should have been mentioned in the documentary, if only in passing.

(Foucan was one half of the awesome parkour scene in Casino Royale.)
