Light on the North (Licht op het Noorden)

Recently, a mini-series of four documentaries was broadcast on Dutch television, called Licht op het Noorden (or Light on the North) in which Stine Jensen a Danish writer and film maker who grew up in the Netherlands investigates Scandinavia. Every episode she investigates a country and focusses on one or two key aspects. Norway and the quick rise in wealth, the importance of the outdoors, and the large number of heroine users. Finland and their ideas of sisu, which loosely translates to “strength of will”, alcoholism and depression. Sweden and their ideas on equality, feminism and migrant workers. I haven’t seen the Danish episode yet, which broadcasts tonight, but I’m very much looking forward to it. I also hope we’ll get an episode on Iceland. Here’s some links for those who are interested:
