.: Running a red light
It’s an interesting phenomenon; while running a red light on a bicycle in Amsterdam is very common – to the point where I saw a woman with two children strapped in bicycle-mounted kiddie-seats ignore a red-light this morning – you never see a car doing it. Frequently, you’ll spot a car standing in front of a red light, waiting for the light to change, in the middle of the night, at a deserted intersection.
.: Lustmord
I just discovered a group called Lustmord. I don’t know much about them, but they do very dark, minimal/ambient/industrial music, and I’ve listened to one whole album now (Heresy), and I love it. I’m currently listening to Metavoid, and so far I’m pretty hooked.
The sixth and last track on Heresy, aptly named “Part VI” is perfect from my sunday game at the moment. Perfect. Perhaps I should run the music while we game; it’ll certainly help me. The problem is always that unless I have a CD, I won’t be able to play it in Dennis’ living room, and his computers are all in another room, and unless you crank it up to ridiculous volumes, you won’t really be able to hear it. I remember stealing the Ghost Bear’s Legacy CD from my cousin Mark some years ago, which I used at the start of this campaign to good effect, I feel. Hmmm, music adds, but it can easily subtract, to a gaming atmosphere. It shouldn’t be too intrusive, and most music is designed that way, especially the ones that have lyrics. Lustmord is perfect in this respect.
.: Language
It’s frightening how fast Moulsari has picked up the Dutch language. She still has to pause to search for words, but her vocabulary is amazing.
.: World of Warcraft
I’ve been playing World of Warcraft more again, lately, after almost entirely giving it up, perhaps looking at it once a week for an hour. It’s just so beautiful on a 24″ widescreen, and so much more immersive. I’ve set another ridiculous goal for myself; reaching full Exalted status with AD. So I’ve been solo’ing Stratholme lately. It’s been a good money maker for the amount of time I put into it, and it’s bumping my rep as well. It’s challenging, but doable. I can solo it all the way up to the abomination-rush now. That’s just a bit too hard, I think. Still, pretty good. :)
Hey! You’re not supposed to tell everyone that I’m learning Dutch fast! Then they’ll start taking advantage, whereas I’m the one who should be able to take advantage here. :D
WoW:Yeah, and hours spent in a day: 25. When does he go to work, you ask? I ask, when does he eat and sleep!
PS: It’s really easy to burn a track to a CD so that it plays in a CD player. I can do it for you.
