Last night, Moulsari, Eva, Frank and I had dinner at Loup on the Wolvenstraat. (For those of you who speak Dutch and French, the name of the restaurant is cute.) It’s right across from Wolvenstraat 23, which has turned into a hangout I like going to, even though it’s usually filled to the brim with the pretentious 9 straatjes and canal-crowd (I’m sure Jim would love it!), and I had been looking forward to Loup opening, because before that it had housed Barok, a used-to-be-cool-but-now-is-nothing-more-than-a-hole-in-the-wall restaurant, that you wouldn’t want to be caught dead in. It just screamed “Cockroach Problem, Beware!” Anyway, Loup is new, and large, and nicely decorated, and they have a very impressive wine-list, including anything from 18 euro a bottle to 35 euro a glass. It looks like they might also do a decent cocktail, but for now, when it comes to cocktails, I’m staying loyal to my new favourite cocktail place Collins, which, I suspect, is owned by the same co-owner of Loup.

It was really good seeing Eva again. I hadn’t seen her since before she went to California, and I really missed her. I guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. It was also good seeing Frank again. He’s such a smooth cat he could totally be an Elf if he’d be a Shadowrun character.

We talked about all kinds of stuff, had a great time, and we were incredibly surprised at the quality of the food and service. The Maitre D’ was very beautiful, graceful, charming and attentive woman, and the deserts were great, too. (And I don’t say that very often.) The price was a bit steeper than usual, but then again, it was also a bit better than usual.
