If you follow the reasoning that martial means warlike|soldierly|violent and you turn it into an art, which means perfection|quality|studied, isn’t martial art a bit oxymoronic? Violence is ugly and art is beautiful; it’s like two-in-one shampoo, one isn’t big enough to hold two, that’s why two was created, it would be overflowing and the bottle would be all sticky and shit. (Yeah, yeah, I know what the argument is going to be, “can’t you achieve the perfection of violence?” No, I don’t think you can.)
