Since my shoulder got the go ahead from the physiotherapist, I have been getting back into a steady rhythm of training, and it’s doing me well. Not only do I have a productive outlet for some of those small, nagging frustrations, but I can also feel my body getting stronger, and I get to witness first hand that I’m healing. Not only the bumps, cuts and bruises that I inflict upon myself in training, but also just my general physique. I feel better, physically, than I have in a long time. It’s not just the training, but it’s also the physiotherapy that’s helping a tremendous amount.

Mentally, I’m much more resilient and I can feel the flexibility that I once possessed return to me in spades. It’s been a long and difficult process, and I’m nowhere near done rejuvenating my mind and my spirit, but I’m getting there. I feel more focussed, more productive and in a better mood, and the future is brighter and more promising than ever.

I can’t say that my personal struggles are over – trust me, there plenty left to do – but I feel better equipped and more motivated to do what needs to be done.
