Today a 75% Chance of Clusters

So, my cluster started eight days ago, and I’ve had two pain free days and one double attack. Almost all attacks have come between six and eight o’clock in the morning, giving me a 75% chance of waking up with one of these fucking things. As you might expect it means my sleep is less than relaxed and even on days where I don’t get an attack I wake up tired.

People always say the same thing; “just try to relax.” And it’s one thing if you don’t know better, but I swear, if one more person that should know better suggests relaxing on order to deal with or prevent the anxiety, I might do something terrible.

Back to my scheduled mantra: life is beautiful, life is beautiful, life is beautiful, life is beautiful, life is beautiful.

Ah, sod it.

The people making those suggestions that you don’t appreciate probably do so out of good intentions, and a feeling of concern, and a lack of ability to actually help you, so they just offer the best thing they can think of. It shouldn’t be a reason to get upset.

Also, considering the episode started 8 days ago, probably you are almost at the end of it. “Think positive.” — it’s different than “Try to relax,” right?

Also, God is probably just punishing you, so try to be good. :P

Yeah, I know everyone means well, but it’s frustrating because it shows a lack of understanding. I know from talking to others similarly afflicted that I maintain a far more active and less tortured life than most. Much of that has to do with the frequency of the attacks and the length of the intervals between episode. But I would still like to think that part of it is because I’m good at enduring it, the pain, the anxiety, the tension, etc. So when someone tells me to do the obvious, I obviously wonder why they don’t think I’ve thunk about that. What’s so special about your insight that you think I haven’t considered that and hundred other things? And if it is one person, it would be fine. Or if it is a person ignorant of the nature of these attacks, then it’s also forgivable. But there are a lot of people, which frustrates, and there’s a lot of people that I think should know better.

That’s why I get frustrated. I try not to get frustrated, but my patience and tolerance is one of the first things to go when I wake up from a bad night of sleep with the feeling that someone is driving a knife through my eyeball.
