Today was quite warm and humid here in Amsterdam. It’s interesting to see how certain people thrive on the warmth and certain people whither. I’d like to think I’m pretty weather-independent, but I do notice that my energy levels are lower the warmer it gets, and I definitely like cold weather more than I like warm weather, but I’m not a complainer. Some people will complain no matter what weather, it seems. Three weeks ago, these people were complaining that we wouldn’t see a summer this year and now they’re complaining that this is too much.
Work came a little less easy today. While our building is old and heavy and the temperature stays relatively cool despite it being warm outside, we a threshold somehow and even our office was quite warm. Unfortunately, there was also not a gust of wind, which means we couldn’t open up two windows and count on a draft to pulls us through. So today, while my priority list was overflowing, I decided it would be a day to do something fun instead of important.
I wish I could approach all things with that type of flexibility. Weather too hot to concentrate on important things properly? Sure, we’ll just do something fun that needed doing instead.
