Weekend

I spent the better part of the weekend at my mother’s house, hanging out, helping out with the chores, hanging out in the backyard, and watching movies. Sleep on a sofa two nights in a row didn’t do any wonders for my sleep deprivation, but it did give me the opportunity to spend a bunch of time with my mother and siblings. I got an SMS from Lindsay that made me laugh; “Just a reminder that tomorrow is ‘Hug a Retard Day.’ So don’t freak out like you did last year. Nobody is trying to take your helmet.” Crazy chick, but very adorable.

My mother says she wanted to go to Italy at the end of June, so I think I should start making some preparations.

Mother

My mother had a thorax-scan today in order to monitor how well she’s responding to the chemo-therapy. It turns out her body isn’t responding at all. The cancer in her liver has grown considerably, the cancer in her lung has spread and certain spots have become quite a bit bigger. Some of the spots which they suspected was scar-tissue from the stereotactical radiology were in fact tumors, too, and that has grown as well, and it seems to have spread to one of her ribs. They’re going to change the chemo-treatment to another form, and they finally gave an estimation of her life expectancy; months.

Lion!

You always hear these news stories about firefighters finding a guy half-eaten together with a full grown tiger in a fifth-floor walk-up on the lower eastside of Manhattan. You wonder why these people think they should take a tiger into their home. How could they be so stupid? You know what, I could be that stupid, too.
