[wRx] Lightbox
I just implemented Lightbox on my galleries page. I really like it, and I am impressed by the scripts behind it. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make use of it. It’s a little buggy here and there, you can’t, for instance, click any of the images when the page is still loading, the lightbox effect won’t appear, then. And when a lightbox loads an image that goes beyond the scope of the page as it’s defined, it gets a little wonky, but other than that it’s superb! Check it out!
Punishment Park
Punishment Park [1971]
This is a weird fake-documentary about people rounded up and convicted to years of imprisonment during the Vietnam War for crimes of subversion, opposing the war-effort, draft-dodging, and spreading subversive, anti-government, anti-war, anti-capitalist or communist material. They are hauled before a tribunal that questions them on their motives, at the end of which they are given a choice; do their time, or do a three day run at Punishment Park, an area of the southern Californian desert in which they can earn their freedom by outrunning law-enforcers. If they can reach an American flag before national guardsmen, police officers and other law enforcers have captured them, they get their freedom. The odds are stacked against them, because they no water, no shelter, and no arms, and have to outrun well-organised, well-trained and well-equiped law-enforcers. Inevitably, things get violent and people die.
And all of this is filmed by British and German documentary makers. Which gives everything a very real sense of it being a documentary, to the point where sometimes you forget that it’s fictional.
Great, but weird. And it gives a good feel from what I can gather, of the political climate and popular opinion of the Vietnam War during the late 60s and early 70s.
Michael Keaton Made a Funny
After interviewer Michael Parkinson commented on his birthname being Michael Douglas:

| Yeah, I had to change my name because there were two other actors registered at Equity with that name. One of them is doing quite well from what I understand, the other is making cheap porn movies … like ‘Basic Instinct.’ |
[wRx] Film Ratings
Unfortunately, due to a bug in my scripts, I accidentally linked the votes not to films, but to reviews, so multiple reviews for the same films could have different ratings for the film depending on which review you used to rate the film through. I had to reset all the votes, and I fixed the bug. My apologies for the trouble. If anything shows up that doesn’t look right, then let me know, please.
