“It’s a condition of mental divergence. I find myself on the planet Ogo, part of an intellectual elite, preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. But even though this is a totally convincing reality for me in every way, nevertheless Ogo is actually a construct of my psyche. I am mentally divergent, in that I am escaping certain unnamed realities that plague my life here. When I stop going there, I will be well.” |
Is it wrong when I am starting to feel a kinship to L.J. Washington?
Ogo We all have Planet Ogo’s. They’re called your imagination, your escape pod, your other personality. Does it mean we’re all not well? I for one know that I’d be far worse off if I couldn’t hop to Ogo every now and then.
Fair enough… …but what if you get lost in your own escape pod? What if Ogo becomes more attractive than real life?
Escape We all need some time to escape reality every now and then, I think that is why so many people are still attracted to religion and fantasy. Every now and then you need to escape that cold hard reality that you face every day.
