So, I’m due for a renewal of my driver’s license, and I’m looking forward to it a lot, since the new ones are the regular credit-card flavour and our old driver’s licenses are the size of a roadmap, and ugly as shit. It’s all paper, so it gets manky and dirty and crumpled, and I’m not even considering what it’ll look like if it accidentally gets thrown in with the washing.
Anyway, I needed to go and get some new pass-photos made, and since there are all kinds of new rules to govern the coming biometrics that they want to implement into the passports, the photos must abide by strict rules. One of them is that you have to look straight ahead, you can’t smile, and you have to look “kinda serious.” This, coupled with my millimetered hair and the weight I’ve gained over the last six, stressful months, makes me look like I just did an eightball of coke, stole a car, and ran over a few people as the cops gave chase.
Yeah, not my most flattering hour. :)
Had to go through the same drill a month ago…must say the new drivers’s license is a _lot_ better than the old one….the picture taking however is indeed a somewhat sobering experience when you see the results :|
Funny, I’m gonna go through the same ridiculous process tomorrow. I’m renewing my passport. I wanted to take the passport photos here but then I found out that though the size of the photo is the same and general conditions as well (both ears visible – which is not that easy with women who tend to have hair! – grim face, etc.), the face for the Polish passport photo needs to be more zoomed in! When the woman in the embassy started to recite to me what I’m supposed to tell to a Dutch photographer (x mm from the top of the forehead to the end of nose, x mm between the eyes, etc etc), I decided I’ll have my photos taken in Poland and bring them back with me. :)
