Lately I’ve been hit with “moederverdriet”, or “mother sadness”. This song hit me randomly while at the supermarket because I was wearing a sweater that my mother had gifted me. It was the last gift she gave me before she died. It’s been more than fifteen years, and I can still get blindsided by sadness.
